HOW TO USE CARPET AND RUGS TO MAKE HOME LOOK STYLISH

red hr line

Adding a rug or carpet is a great way to enhance the look of a room that lacks style and excitement. A rug alone is enough to anchor a room and add grace and warmth to it. So when you decorate your room, make sure to add a rug to give it a more appealing look.

There are various different ways to add a rug to your space, but we will list down only the top ones here:

  • Rugs can be used to define areas

You can use a rug to separate or define different areas of your home such as dining and seating area etc. This is mostly done in larger rooms that require more definition, and studio apartments where dining and seating areas are not separated by walls or doors.

  • Rugs can be used to add variety to your room

By adding two or more rugs of different sizes, you can create variety in an area. Using the same sized rugs will only visually divide your room into two so try using different sizes of rugs to make your room look distinctive. Also, make sure that the rugs you choose complement each other because if they don’t, you might end up with an unpleasant and jarring effect.

  • Rugs can help control the visual volume of the room

Using a rug can turn up as well as lower the visual volume of a room. For example, if your room’s wallpaper is bright and flashy, then it’s better to choose a subtle rug to balance the volume. And if walls are subdued than you can choose bolder and brighter colours (light matching with your Sofa Slipcovers & Sofa covers will be an Advantage) for you rug and add more excitement to the room.

  • You can play around with the shapes of rugs

Rugs don’t necessarily have to be rectangle. You can choose the shape of your rug according to the way you set your furniture. Once you’re done with furniture setting, try to figure out which shape of rug would look best with it. Then you can go with a round shape, oval or square shape – if that complements the arrangement of furniture better than the rectangular one.

  • Rugs can act as a visual anchor in your room

While everybody loves rooms that have a range of colours, patterns, and textures, even the most colourful and dynamic rooms need a visual anchor. A rug can act as grounding force and a graphic point of departure that takes our attention towards other wild and exciting elements of the room (such as a beautiful wall mural etc.)

  • Monochromatic layers steal the show

One of the best wats to spruce up your carpet is to place a neutral rug on it. by adding some extra texture, your room will become more interesting, yet subtle. Try this if you don’t want to go for a statement-making rug, and you won’t be disappointed.

  • Rugs can add coziness to your space

If you have installed carpet in your room, it will already be pretty cozy. But if you want to add more layers of coziness and softness, then a plush textile rug is the perfect way to do so. It will make your floor extra soft and your feet will feel more cozy. And if you have children in your home, this floor will be a perfect place for them to play and crawl.

  • Rugs help you achieve a particular style

If you’ve planned a certain style for your room, rugs are one of the best ways to achieve it. Whether you want to create a dark space or add traditional touches to your interior, rugs can help. The accents of the room, wall hanging, furniture, everything is elevated by adding a statement rug.
