How To Keep Your Floor Fresh In All Seasons?

red hr line

Flooring has a major influence on the beauty of your home. It is the first thing that one notes and if it is not clean enough, it will have a major impact on the overall look of your home. It is quite impossible to keep the floor fresh in all season depending on the flooring type. It becomes even more difficult when you have kids at your home or pets who are prone to make the floor dirty. Seasons also have impact on the floor and thus, it is quite important to understand what your floor needs in order to stay fresh for all seasons.

Clean the floor everyday: It is very important to use simple cleaning methods everyday, for cleaning your floor. Different floors have different cleaning options available, some being really easy. You can just do dusting in some cases while in other cases, you can wipe it off with water. Moping is the best choice for most of the flooring options; however, if you cannot do it every day, you can do it once in a week.

Stay away from allergens: Cleaning the floor is not the only thing you have to do in order to keep your floor fresh. Allergens are everywhere and they can be hampering the freshness of your floor. Disinfecting the floor becomes a need in case you have kids and pets at your home. You can resist allergies by using different floor cleaner. In case your floor is porous the chance of allergies increase even more. It is thus important to lay a layer that will not allow the allergens to pass through. There are some houseplants that can purify the air of your home. Lady palm and bamboo palm, lilies, golden pothos and more such plants can be placed in order to clean the air. This will keep the floor and the air fresh for a long period of time.

Cleaning method depending on Floor types

Many modern homes today have hardwood and laminate flooring. Glass and vinyl flooring is also becoming quite popular, these days. The cleaning methods are different for these categories and you need to understand the need before you can take preparation.

Hardwood and Laminate: The cleaning method for both hardwood and laminate is almost the same. You can use dry mop in order to clean the hardwood floors. You can also use floor cleansers available in spray bottles to keep the cleanliness in tact for the hardwood flooring. While dry mopping will make the floor look clean it will eventually keep the dust on parts of the floor. It is important to use a cleansing spray instead in order to keep the floor fresh, in real terms.

Vinyl Floor and Glass Floor: In both the cases, sprays can be used to clean the floor. For glass to be particular, you can use wet mopping because the water will not damage the surface of the floor.

Carpet Flooring: Carpet flooring is the most difficult one to keep clean. You can use vacuum cleaner to clean the carpet and can even use brush to clean it from time to time. There are some carpets that are washable but that’s not the case with most. If your carpet can be washed, make sure to do this at least twice a year.

Flooring plays a major role in home hygiene. It is important that you keep it fresh. You may have to invest some time in order to run the cleaning procedure but it is actually worth it when you keep it fresh. It is not possible to change the flooring every now and then, thus cleaning it regularly is the best way to go.
