red hr line

Wondering how to choose the best hardwood flooring? If this is the case, then you’re at the right place. Installing hardwood flooring in your home is a great investment. They are easy to clean, highly durable, and can increase your property’s value. Whether you’re installing them in your new home or renovated space, it’s a great decision.

This guide will help you choose the right hardwood flooring for your beautiful home.

But before we move on, let’s first get a quick overview of the types of hardwood flooring:

Types of Hardwood Flooring
Once you’ve decided to install hardwood flooring, the next thing to do is consider different types of hardwood and pick the one that’s most suitable. There are two main types of hardwood: solid hardwood and engineered hardwood. Both of these types have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on where they have to be installed.

Solid Hardwood Flooring
It is exactly what it sounds like. Each of its board is made of a single plank of solid hardwood. These boards are usually ¾ inch thick, which means they can easily be sanded down and refinished again.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring
This is basically manufactured wood flooring with its top and bottom layers about 4mm thick. Engineered wood floors are made of different species of natural wood. The center of each of its plank is built with five to seven layers of plywood, which makes it highly stable and resilient.

Hardwood floors are timeless but they still go through different trends. So when figuring out how to choose the right hardwood floor, remember that at it must go with your personal style and home interior. Your flooring with grow with your taste and lifestyle over time.

Consider the following things before choosing a hardwood flooring for your space:

  • Think about the size of the room
No matter what the size of your room is, the color of your flooring will always have a major effect on the feeling of space you get when you enter the room. If you room is large and wide then you should consider warmer or darker tones like walnut or wenge for your floor. The colors will make your room seem a bit smaller and a lot cozier. On the other hand, if you have tiny space, using the right colors for your floor can make a significant difference. Try using natural, lighter floor colors like light oak or beige. These shaded with open up your space, without you having to move out half your things and furniture.
  • Interior of your space
The way you decorate your space and the colors you use for your walls and furniture should be kept in mind while picking a flooring. Your floor should match with the rest of your space. If you have a light, cool, and peaceful interior then go for a flooring that gives a cool and peaceful look. On the other hand, if you have rustic walls and furniture, then go for a flooring that’s natural and rustic.
  • Consider the changing lights in your room
The lighting your room changes throughout the day, so make sure your judge the floor sample color in all these lights. It is because as lights change, so does the impression of a flooring. The floor will give a different feel during morning and afternoon in natural sunlight than it would in evening and night in artificial light. So make sure to check that your flooring looks flawless in all lights and gives you the right feeling. Take some time and think about what kind of light and feeling you want for your new floor and then decide.
