The Best Way To Maintain Your Carpets

red hr line

Carpet has become an evident part of modern homes. No matter what the size of the home is, you will find a carpet, at least in the living room. People do use carpet in the bedrooms too but living room carpets are the most difficult to take care of. They take the burden of high traffic, kids and pets play on them and heavy traffic is quite common too. In such a scenario carpet cleaning has to be proper in order to maintain a long life of the carpet. There are several things you need to remember about maintaining a carpet.

Clean the dirt

Dirt on the carpet has to be cleaned as early as possible. You cannot allow the dirt to stay for long in order to make sure that the carpet does not catch any stain. If you let the dirt stay for a long period of time, the carpet will catch the stain and t will be difficult to remove the stain after that. Vacuum cleaning is enough in most of the cases for clearing the dirt. Do not let the dirt dull the sheen and thus it is better to use vacuum cleaner as frequently as possible. Soil build up both oily and non-oily can be taken care of with the use of frequent carpet cleaning. However, it is much important to use the vacuum cleaner at the right speed. At the same time start cleaning with a clear bag or filter. Otherwise, the dirt will be more visible.

Cover It Up

While you may not need to cover the whole carpet up as that will not be worthwhile, you can make a walking area on the carpet. The walk-off mat can keep the dirt away from the carpet and it is not quite difficult to clean that mat. You just need to take the mat out of the door and you can brush off the dirt or clean the mat. The carpet will be safe for a long period of time and you will not have to worry about the soil going inside.

Use Branded Carpet Cleaning Items

There are several cleaning solutions available in the market for cleaning the carpet. However, each of them will not provide the same outcome for the material of the carpet. It is thus better to use a branded product that is renowned for its carpet cleaning technique. It is first important to check what the basic methods applicable for the specific carpet. What type of cleaner can be used in the carpet is one thing that you may first check before you can use it. Purchase the product accordingly before applying on the carpet.

What Shall You Avoid

If you are using a woollen carpet, it is better not to soak it. Even if you can use some sort of cleaner in spray form, you cannot just soak it in water. It may take a long time to get dry and if during that time, any dust particle catches up, it can catch the stain. Don’t let the carpet to get really dirty before you apply any cleaning method. Don’t drag any furniture on the carpet as that might damage it. Make sure to take caution while doing so.

Carpet is a heavy investment for any home. While it improves the look of the room, it can add some charm to the décor. The feel is always good when you walk on the carpet rather than on the naked floor. The cost may be high at times and you cannot purchase a new carpet, every now and then. Follow the methods above to make sure they stay well for long.
