Hardwood Vs Laminate Flooring, Close Competition

red hr line

Style, Look and appeal, these are three things that you want from your flooring. The good thing is both laminate and hardwood flooring offer the same. It is not an easy fight when you consider both the flooring option and have to choose just one of them.

Wood is beautiful and time has not hampered its appeal. It is one of those flooring that provides look along with warmth. It is always the first choice for the household but that is not all that people consider. It gives a traditional appearance to your home which is missing in case of other flooring options. Hardwood is quite costly compared to other flooring options. While laminate flooring has lower price point and wood like appearance, they are still the second choice. This is because of the lack of originality and many want original wood as flooring of the homes.

Hardwood Flooring Vs Laminate

There are several factors that mark difference between Hardwood and Laminate flooring.

Price: One of the determining factors here is price. The cost of Laminate flooring is half the price of Hardwood flooring. The hardwood comes from harvested trees and thus the price will always be high. In case of laminate, composite wood is pressed together to create the outcome. This is done in high temperature. Once the pressing is done, the image of the hardwood floors is pressed on the composition. The materials are cheaper in case of laminate and at the same time the installation cost is less.

Durability: While people presume that hardwood is the most durable flooring option, it is not. Laminate is much more durable in every possible ways. In case of Hardwood, damage is on the cards. It can get scratched, it can be damp in case of extra moisture, and eventually may get broken down. In case of Laminate, pressed wood is used. The wood is quite strong and will last for a long time. People prefer laminate due to its durability and as the option has hardwood impression on it, the look can also become similar.

Repair: In case of repair, Hardwood takes an upper hand. In case of hardwood the repairing of the part can be done just by rebuilding, sanding and polishing. The look will just be the same. However, this is not possible in case of laminate flooring. Even if the laminate flooring is damaged after several year and you replace it with a new piece, the difference will always be noted. The wear and tear of time will change its shade and the difference of the shades is not easy to hide.

The good thing about laminate is that it does not look plastic like other flooring options. Anyone can doubt that it is hardwood and that is where the positive lies. If you don’t want to compromise with the look of your floor but want to save on the money that it would have take, then this is the right option for you. It is long lasting, good to look at and easy to fit. It is becoming the first choice of many home owners these days owing to the cost and other factors.

However, if you want authenticity and look both along with the look guarantee for the long run, then Hardwood is your only option. You can never be wrong with this option if you have the backup money. It is thus important to trust your instinct when you are making a decision. Check out the available options available and ask for quotes from several providers. This will help you decide the best option available to you.
